Maho Bay, USVI December 2007

Jacob (age 11) and I spent an adventurous week on St.John, in the USVI, swimming, snorkeling, playing rummy, reading, and hiking the Reef Bay Trail. We stayed at Maho Bay Camps (http://www.maho.org/) and the stairs from our tent/cottage to the beach numbered 220 !!

The dining pavilion was a favorite spot for happy hour rummy and dinner and visiting with the 4? resident cats......

Our tent came with a resident gecko

A late season tropical depression brought great body surfing possibilites

Jacob discovered a great new underwater world.........

After the wind and rains, our little bay was tranquil.

Evenings were spent watching the resident glass blowers create wondrous things........

The Nat'l Park Service leads our hike in the sub-tropical forest

Jacob thinks this should be an annual affair; I'm not sure I can handle those 220 stairs again! To learn more about this ecotourism spot, I suggest the November 2007 issue of Audubon Magazine.
